Dependable and Adaptive Robotic Systems
Ruichao Wu is an external doctoral candidate and works at Fraunhofer IPA in the Department of Automation and Robotics. Her research focuses on improving the dependability and adaptability of robotic systems that operate in complex and dynamic environments, where reliable execution cannot be ensured by predefined task programs alone.
Her work investigates how robots can monitor their execution, interpret runtime deviations, and continue operation when conditions differ from the expected task progression. A central goal is to connect high-level task understanding with concrete executable robot functions, so that robotic systems can relate their intended behavior to their actual runtime situation.
This research contributes to the development of robotic systems that can operate more robustly and flexibly in practical applications, especially when facing uncertainty, changing environments, or unexpected execution conditions.
